Environmentally conscious and quality-oriented

As well as making materials which are used in many essential everyday items, Bayer MaterialScience also develops new products designed to meet high standards in terms of technology, safety, environment-friendliness and durability. In order to do this, it operates a demanding system of quality management.

Advanced plastics technology with integrated environmental protection

Our plastics are made using modern, environment-friendly processes, and are constantly enhanced to further reduce their already minimal environmental impact and consumption of energy and raw materials. As well as being ecologically sound, this also makes them more cost-effective.

Our environmental management systems comply with international standards, and in many cases are certified by external organizations. For example, we have introduced EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) at our locations in Dormagen, Germany and Filago, Italy. This means that we are committed to health, safety and environmental standards well above those required by law. Many of our factories around the world have also gained ISO/TS 14001 certification; one is Dormagen, and others are located in Belgium, Thailand, Italy, Spain and Japan.

The customer at the center

The former Plastics Business Group of the Bayer AG began setting up a quality management system in the 1980s with the aim of creating error-free business processes. In December 2000, the current Bayer MaterialScience AG's key European factories achieved certification. We are proud having received this award, which since the end of 1999 has been the most demanding common standard agreed by the worldwide automobile industry, and combines ISO 9001, Q8 9000 and VDA 6.1. It ensures that certified companies continuously revise their products and management processes, and adapt these to new needs and markets in a flexible manner. Another important focus of this quality management is customer, employee and supplier satisfaction. The system therefore extends beyond the boundaries of Bayer and includes customers and end users.
